Welcome to Quilting on the Crow, a longarm quilting studio located in Paynesville, MN
The history and origin of barn quilts seems to differ depending upon which part of the country you live in. My favorite anecdote is that barn quilts were painted on the side of barns whose owners were participants in the Underground Railroad. Escaped slaves could find food and lodging for a night or two in barns marked with a barn quilt on their journey north to freedom.
Quilting on the Crow Studio has barn quilt classes upon demand. Due to Covid-19 space is limited to 4 persons per class in my studio. Cost of the class ( $40.00 / person ) includes paints, brushes, a 16" x 16" or a 24" X 24" white painted plywood blank. Please bring your favorite FROG or Scotch painters tape and quilt block pattern. Stuck on a pattern? I have several books that may help you out. If your group would like to host a barn quilt class please give me a call; I can bring materials to your site for a class.
